The first volume is Baedeker's guide to Switzerland and the adjacent portions of Italy Savoy and Tyrol being the twenty third edition published in 1909. With seventy two maps nineteen plans and twelve panoramas. The second volume is a guide to Belgium and Luxemburg being the sixteen edition published in 1931. With forty three maps and plans. Collated complete. Both are in the original cloth bindings. Externally very smart with some fading to the spine of Switzerland. A small tear to the frontispiece map of Switzerland to where the map is bound. Internally both volumes are firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good Karl Baedeker hardcover

Soft leather boards are in Fine condition having been protected by DJ. Binding is in very good condition.</p><p>Edges marbled. Internally clean free of foxing markings or inscriptions except for previous owner name in pencil on title page and previous sale price and year in pencil on half title.</p><p>DJ has age related wear with chipping at extremities and closed tears at folds see images.</p><p>A very scarce title with DJ particularly in such condition. This is the last edition of this handbook for Lower Egypt. 14 maps 33 plans 7 views and 76 vignettes. <br />Book is very good. Soft leather boards clean.</p><p>Binding tight. Edges marbled. Light cracking of hinge inside front cover but still very firm see images.<br />Cover has very small wear at corners and head and tail of spine.<br />Only marking or inscription is name and address of previous owner in pencil on first blank with previous sale price and edition also in pencil. Tiny bookseller label on front pastedown. Not ex library. </p><p>Overall a well preserved copy of an uncommon title.</p> Baedeker
