First edition of this piece chronicling the devastation to Hawaii following the massive April 1 1946 7.4 earthquake near Unimak Island in the Aleutian Islands off of Alaska. Hawaii located 2400 miles south of the epicenter was struck by a 32-60 foot tsunami wave resulting in 96 deaths and prompted the U.S. to establish the Seismic SeaWave Warning System in 1948.
