Lorraine's Mother Also Objected To The Match And Moved To Hollywood California With Her Daughter. Lorraine Appeared In Several More Films Including King Lear In Which She Played Cordelia And The Fall Of A Nation A Response To D.W. Griffith's The Birth Of A Nation. The Two Films Were Based On Books By The Same Author Thomas Dixon Who Directed The Fall Of A Nation. Lorraine And Richard Corresponded During Their Separation And Married In 1917 With Lorraine Retiring From The Screen. Shortly After Their Marriage Lorraine Began Taking Creative Writing Classes At Columbia University. A Number Of Her Stories Were Published In Magazines For Children; In Both 1929 And 1930 Her Stories Were Included In Anthologies Of "Best" Children's Stories. She Also Wrote The Children's Books Twinkle Little Movie Star Which Drew On Her Knowledge Of Hollywood And Movie-Making And Dilly Was Different. In The 1930S Lorraine Began Therapy With David Seabury And Formed A Deep Attachment To Him. She Worked With Him On His Books Transcribing At Least One Into Braille And He Provided The Introduction To Her Genius In Chrysalis: Locked Doors On Greatness Within. Lorraine's Last Book Bellevue Written With Dr. Laurence Miscall Was Published In 1940. Light wear to covers. Interior is clean and unmarked. 48 3 pages. 9 x 6.25 inches. No copies located in WorldCat institutions. A very rare anthology of 58 tunes for chapter use of the Order of Chosen Friends a fraternal organization founded in May 1879. This is very similar to the previous volume of songs that Pitkin had compiled with Jennie E. Mathews Gems of Song for Eastern Star Chapters 1882. The two volumes share in common 25 songs one of which ''Coronation'' has different lyrics but with Mystic Songs featuring 33 songs that do not appear in Gems of Song. The volume was dedicated by Pitkin in ''F.A.P.'' Fraternity Aid and Protection the motto of the order to the Members of the Order of Chosen Friends. Lorraine J. Pitkin 1845-1922 was a important figure in the Order of the Eastern Star OEC serving in leadership roles in both the Grand Chapter of Illinois and in the General Grand Chapter where she served as Most Worthy Grand Matron 1880-1883 and Right Worthy Grand Secretary 1889-1919.
