NDB 3,219 (Christalnik) u. 16,619f. ADB 21,183ff.

195462999New York: British Book Centre 1954. First American Edition. 8vo. 21cm x 14.5cm. Publisher's sky blue cloth. Dustjacket. Titled in black to spine clean and strong with some slight discolouration to the upper edges slight rubbing to extremities in a very good strong dustjacket with rubbing spine a touch of wear to the spine ends and some offset shadows caused by being in a sunlit bookshelf. A very good clean copy. 136pp. Internally clean. A slightly surrealist and headily poetic evocation of a woman sliding from one stranger to another whilst shoring up the wobbling foundations of her marriage a process that was in fact perhaps unsurprisingly being mirrored in Nin's own life during the period of writing.
