18478644Springfield IL: George R. Weber Public Printer 1847. 15th Assembly 1st Session. Broadside 21 cm x 14 cm printed on one side in black ink. Near fine. A brief report for the Illinois Legislature on those seeking expenses due to the 'Hancock difficulties' of 1846. It states that due to the "advanced stage" of the legislative session there is not ample time to investigate the claims of money owed and destroyed property and for the time the "agents for said claimants have leave to withdraw their accounts at pleasure." The briefness of this item as well as its matter-of-fact style masks the horrors of the events that it eludes to: the Martyrdom and the forced exile of the Mormons from Nauvoo. Flake/Draper 4189. We locate four institutional holdings. Rare. [George R. Weber, Public Printer] unknown
