Some light soiling bumped corners tiny dents in edges. <br/><br/>Most of Barry Cornwall's verse was composed between 1815 when he began to contribute to the Literary Gazette and 1823 or at the latest 1832 when this collection was published. Rather unknown outside Britain in his times and largely considered to be an imitator of greater romantic poets he was nevertheless regarded quite highly during his own lifetime. Lees Corpus Christi College Cambridge to front flyleaf. Bryan Waller Proctor 1787-1874 published primarily under the pseudonym Barry Cornwall and his verse strongly reflected his circle of close literary friends especially Hazlitt Hunt Lamb with this volume particularly indebted to Leigh Hunt. The signatures would suggest a half-title is missing though the binding does seem likely to be the sort of cloth the publisher might have used. John Warren hardcover

Procter began his career as a lawyer however changes profession to author in his late twenties contributing to various periodicals and writing a number of poems and plays.A vast selection of Procter's works including 'The Falcon' 'Marcian Colonna' and 'A Sicilian Story'. With the bookplate of J. O. Edwards. Volume II and III are bound in half calf with marbled boards while the spine to volume I has been rebound in cloth. Externally sound with rubbing and loss to the extremities and paper covering boards. Both boards detached to III with loss to spine head and tail. Hinges strained to II. Hinges reinforced to I.
