22557USA: 20th Century Fox 2005. An original movie poster for 'Robots' from 2005. Measuring 100cm x 68cm. SIGNED by Robin Williams Halle Berry Ewan McGregor Greg Kinnear Drew Carey Amanda Bynes and the director Chris Wedge. In very good condition indeed 'Robots' 2005 is an animated science-fiction comedy set in a world populated entirely by mechanical beings. Robin Williams voices 'Fender' a fast-talking scrap-collecting robot whose manic humour and improvisational energy dominate the film. The story follows idealistic inventor Rodney Copperbottom as he challenges corporate greed and planned obsolescence. Williams's performance provides anarchic comic relief while reinforcing the film's themes of creativity individuality and social responsibility beneath its colourful family-friendly surface. 20th Century Fox unknown

197224945Zurich: Burton Y. Berry 1972. Fine in photo-illustrated laminated boards. Highly sought after and prized since its discovery. First Edition. Quarto. Privately printed for Berry by C.J. Bucher Ltd. Lucerne in an edition of 300 copies. Preface and text by the photographer. 78 pages 63 full-bleed black and white photographs. One of the great unsung and virtually unknown photobooks of the 60s and 70s. The photographer Burton Y. Berry was a career diplomat and an obsessive collector. Influenced by attending a Beatles concert in 1965 Berry sought to understand and document youth culture by photographing mostly male youths in Zurich where he was stationed. While the idea was to capture the hairstyles of his subjects what unfolds page by page is nothing short of a forensic sweep of European youth fashion and culture at the apex of the sixties. The book could be dismissed as amateur hobby but Berry was an excellent photographer book designer and chronicler of his surroundings. Parr / Badger v3 80. [Zurich]: Burton Y. Berry unknown books
2018Crete NE: The Best Cellar Press 1975. First edition. Softcover. Very good.
A standout association copy of this handsome chapbook inscribed on the front free endpaper: “To the Stegners with affection from the Berrys.†In Wendell Berry’s hand. Berry studied with Stegner "the Dean of Western Writers" as a Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University and the two became lifelong friends. Berry’s essay "Wallace Stegner and the Great Community" in his collection What Are People For explains his influence even before he arrived at Stanford: "I saw plainly that this man when he was perhaps my age had known how to write and that he had known how much better than I did.†Stegner in turn wrote of Berry “It is hard to say whether I like this writer better as a poet an essayist or a novelist. He is all three at a high level." Stiff textured tan-gray wraps staple bound. Tan endpapers and stiff green pages. No limitation stated. Includes the poem "To Gary Snyder" another longtime friend. Very good with sunning along the spine and upper margins more pronounced on rear wrap; small slight scuff at top of front wrap. A great connection between renowned writers of place both with a strong moral and critical backbone
. The Best Cellar Press unknown

1976119527Cambridge: Cambridge University Press 1976. First edition of this classic work. Octavo original wrappers. From the library of Stephen Hawking with his name written on the front free end page. Stephen Hawking was a theoretical physicist cosmologist and author who was director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge at the time of his death. Hawking's scientific works included a collaboration with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation often called Hawking radiation. He was the first to set out a theory of cosmology explained by a union of the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. Hawking may be one of the most recognizable of theoretical physicists in part due to ALS which gradually paralyzed him over the decades. After the loss of his speech he was able to communicate through a speech-generating device--initially through use of a handheld switch and eventually by using a single cheek muscle. He is also well known since he achieved commercial success with several works of popular science in which he discussed his theories and cosmology in general. His book A Brief History of Time appeared on the Sunday Times bestseller list for a record-breaking 237 weeks. In near fine condition. A nice association from this giant in the world of theoretical physics. General relativity and quantum mechanics have become the two central pillars of theoretical physics. Moreover general relativity has important applications in astrophysics and high-energy particle physics. Covering the fundamentals of the subject Principles of Cosmology and Gravitation describes the universe as revealed by observations and presents a theoretical framework to enable important cosmological formulae to be derived and numerical calculations performed. Avoiding elaborate formal discussions the book presents a practical approach that focuses on the general theory of relativity. It examines different evolutionary models and the gravitational effects of massive bodies. The book also includes a large number of worked examples and problems half with solutions.
