At the head of the title is the notation: "Virginia Minstrels No. 14. No copy located outside North Carolina or Virginia. Found at: the University of Virginia William & Mary the Library of Virginia and UNC at Chapel Hill and Duke. The wording and music are not those of the late state song of Virginia the words declaim the longings of an old black oysterman to be back on a scow raking up oysters. There are no references to slavery his employer nor does it contain any "sensitive" or non-p.c. expressions or words. It became a very popular song among Confederate troops in the Civil War. Uniformly near fine to fine overall. <br/><br/>Founded by Colin Faver and Kevin Millins Final Solution was arguably the most important promoter in the UK during the postpunk years. With their impecable eye for talent Joy Division New Order Echo & the Bunnyman Throbbling Gristle et al and their instantly-recognizable flyers Final Solution produced many of the best shows in and around London especially for shows at London's legendary gay nightclub Heaven. And the flyers such as though included here were in no small part key to this success. With their distinctive and colorful designs these uncredited flyers both embody the aesthetics of the New Romantics which the "Heaven sound" helped define while retaining the lean aethetic of postpunk. Included here are five flyers for shows at Heaven Thompson Twins Flock of Seagulls among others as well as one for a show at Assembly Hall Bauhaus all from 1981. Final Solution unknown books

Organizers hoped it would be "the world's first permanent festival site." But although the event drew over 200000 people it was not repeated due to multiple arrests and the displeasure of local authorities. The Stooges Jethro Tull Chicago and Brownsville Station were among the many featured performers Alice Cooper and Joe Cocker also named on this handbill did not perform due to contractual difficulties. Five engraved plates in first volume. Extremities rubbed but sound widely differing paper stocks within each volume result in isolated foxing or tanning associated with a particular number within a volume general title present only in the first volume otherwise very good. A curious and bibliographically elusive serial made up of twenty numbers per volume occasionally ranging from as little as 8- 12pp. per issue possibly issued in wrappers if so not present here or self-wrappers. Only the first volume includes a formal title and date and no explicit dates appear in the remainder - a situation mirrored in the entry in the BN catalogue where the existence of a 9th volume is noted. Only the first volume includes the engraved plates signed "Lesestre."
