All pages separated and notched along the inner edge from once being bound within an album and then neatly cut out and light toning throughout a complete but good only copy. For voice and piano. Plate number 11016-5. This copy is a curious variant that prints a different title on the cover than that above the music. It is not to be confused with the 1908 song "My Japanee" written and composed by Louis L. Comstock for the production The Isle of Spice. This 1909 song by Ade and Luders for the production The Old Town is from the point of view of a Japanese character and its language is about as problematic as one would assume given the time and place in which it was written; though it pokes fun at Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado with the singer stating that the Japanese people have since "moved along a peg or two" its attempt to portray any type of a progressive or accepting view is mired from where its sentiment begins like so much writing of that time. Despite this or perhaps because of it the piece remains a meaningful even if forgotten piece of American musical theater history.
