December 1955 - January 1956 !

Porgy and Bess is an opera by George Gershwin. The production of the opera was largely carried out by natives or children of emigrants from Russia Gershwins Mamulyan Smollens Sudeikin.
The first ever trip of an American theater troupe to Russia - the crowning achievement of the world tour "Porgy and Bess" - was the fruit of long confusing and so to the end and not clarified negotiations between the USSR and the Euryman Opera company represented by the producers of the Gershwin Opera Brin and Davis .
The tour of the American opera in 1955-1956 is an amazing example of a turn in politics the first sign of the onset of a new period in the political and cultural life of the USSR - the Soviet "thaw" in 1956-1960.
Two rare ephemeras in good condition.
paperback
