A beautiful First German Edition assumed of Richard Bach's classic work signed by the author on the half-title page. In fine dark blue paper boards the book is clean solid and in beautiful condition. An important feature of this edition are the beautiful full-page watercolor illustrations throughout the book. The dustjacket is also in very nice condition with only very light wear at the edges. There is no price on the dustjacket which is slightly clipped at the top; we are unsure if a price ever existed. The beautiful dustjacket is protected by an archival plastic cover. This book was signed November 28 2005 during a wonderful 2 hours we spent with Mr. Bach one of our favorite authors. Verlag Ullstein GmbH unknown

Brief notation in holograph ink on one page. <br/><br/>Set in the year 1891 where Claude de Ross Claudio Casssinelli has survived two shipwrecks and washed ashore an uncharted Caribbean island along with some convicts. One by one the convicts meet their fate at the fins of mysterious "fishmen" and Claude just may meet his at the hands of a sadistic inhabitant Edmond Richard Johnson and his wife Bach. <br/><br/>Voodoo the lost city of Atlantis and the manuipulation of human genetics all figure in to this exploitation masterpiece. This issue of Private Pilot magazine from 1967 contains the first appearance of the story Jonathan Livingstone Seagull by American author Richard Bach. For this nascent version of the story the author was paid two hundred dollars by the publishers of Private Pilot magazine.</p> <p>Here we find a short story of three pages. Over the next three years it was re-written and expanded by Richard Bach to become one of the most popular and successful children's books of modern times. The process of writing the final book was arduous and the manuscript was rejected by several publisher before being accepted by Macmillan in 1970.</p> <p>Author Richard Bach is himself an amateur pilot who has enjoyed a lifetime of flying. These personal experiences inspired his story of Jonathan the aspirational seagull. At the age of 76 Bach narrowly survived a crash in his light aeroplane but sustained significant injuries.</p> <p>Jonathan Livingstone Seagull is regarded as a classic of modern American children's fiction and is beloved by millions across the world.
