Presumably this photograph was taking at one of the buildings at Oil Hill Kansas during the oil boom in Kansas in the first half of the 20th century. Written in small white letters at the bottom of the photograph are the words - "Urell Photo Towanga sp." <br /> <br /> From wikepedia: The community was formed during the oil boom in Butler County.2 A post office was established in Oil Hill in 1917 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1958.3 The community no longer exists and is considered a ghost town.4. The design on the front cover is a modest view of getting gas at the pump. A uniformed attendant puts the gas in the back of the sedan. The verso of the map is filled with panels of attractive people and the friendly servers of Gulf gasoline clearly marked on the pumps. There is a lubrication chart that lists the different automobile makes in 1933. What an expanded selection with names like Auburn Cadillac Cord Durant Hupmobile Isotta-Fraschini Locomobile Pierce-Arrow Stutz and Willys among many others. There ia also a transcontinental mileage chart. This is a fun piece highlights by a superb graphic presentation of the map of the United States. H. M. Gousha unknown
