Gli interventi legislativi hanno orientato il settore verso l'applicazione di norme tipicamente farmaceutiche alla produzione, al confezionamento, alla conservazione, alla tracciabilità dei gas medicinali e ai rigorosi standard tecnico-normativi sui sistemi di distribuzione (Dispositivi Medici) di questi prodotti. I gas, siano essi utilizzati come medicinali o come dispositivi medici per le terapie e le cure dei pazienti, devono essere gestiti dagli operatori con le dovute competenze.
