Es sind nicht die Ausgaben von 1710, 1737, 1744, 1750, 1755 und 1772. 16,5 : 10,3 cm. Neuerer Halbleinenband mit gebatikten Bezugspapieren. Der Zwischentitel zur Astronomie hier als Bandtitel vorne eingebunden, das Titelblatt und das erste Vorblatt in einfacher Kopie beiliegend. Eingebunden sind die gelochten Lieferungen des dritten Teils: (2), Seiten (947) - 1542 und 20 gefaltete Kupfertafeln mit vielen Figuren. Jedes Kapitel mit einer gestochenen Schlußvignette. Im Druckbereich wenig, wenige Lagen und einige Tafeln stärker gebräunt. Seite für Seite genau überprüft. Die Seiten 961-966, 1045-1048 und 1313-1320 mit einem stärkeren Braunrand. Seiten 1125-1136 mit einigen Randnotizen in Bleistift und Seite 1131 ein Wort in Rotstift. Es fehlt der Zwischentitel zur Geographie (XXXX2). Rebound in later quarter calf lettered and ruled in gilt five raised bands grey buckram boards. Edges speckled red. New endpapers. Corners bumped a few marks to buckram. Edges browned black stain remains of a stamp to leading edge. Slight wave to text block some foxing and toning heaviest at front and rear occasional dirty fingerprints black and liquid staining to margins of leading edges. Else tight and tidy. A robust copy of the third edition of the influential Scottish mathematician natural philosopher and cryptographer's Introduction to True Physics; John Keill 1671–1721 was instrumental in popularising Newtonian principles through his published lecture series having "offered the first course on Newtonian natural philosophy and the first reputedly based on 'experimental demonstrations' at Hart Hall Oxford at either of the English universities" ODNB. The first edition of the published version of Keill's lectures Introductio ad veram physicam appeared in 1701 the year he also became a fellow of the Royal Society. After an interlude away from Oxford including a government position as 'decypherer to Anne Queen of Great Britain' Keill returned to the University in 1712 as Savilian Professor of Astronomy as detailed on the title page of this edition the first to do so.
