Book is in excellent condition with a few small marks to the black full cloth HB covers, one lightly bumped corner. Binding is solid and square, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. 350 pages, with a great many illustrations, eight color plates, 214 illustrations in b&w, many full page, most of the subject's work. ill., br. Questo libro propone una presentazione organica dell'opera anatomica di Leonardo, con molte novità. I suoi disegni anatomici vengono per la prima volta messi a confronto con l'iconografia anatomica scolastica, cioè con le schematiche illustrazioni in uso, tra Medioevo e Rinascimento, nelle "scuole di medicina". Il volume presenta anche una revisione della cronologia di alcuni disegni. Per esempio, attraverso la nuova datazione del famoso disegno anatomico dell'Albero delle vene, si propone di anticipare l'inizio della ricerca di Leonardo al primo periodo fiorentino, un capitolo sconosciuto della sua carriera di anatomista. In ogni caso, Leonardo concepisce la sua ricerca anatomica sempre in funzione della sua arte: capire le ragioni interne della forma esterna del corpo da dipingere.

Le belle tavole raffigurano fiori in sembianza di figure femminili, delineate con grande eleganza. Qualche abrasione al dorso.
