A pag. A rare first edition of this balistic guide based on Galileo’s studies about trajectories: it’s the first exemple of military application for a galilean study. On the first part, beyond Galileo’s ones, also the researches of Cassini, Torricelli, Tartaglia and others are put in discussion. The manuscript was ready to print since 1675, but the publication was delayed for eight years on Louis XIV’s order: the French monarchy was afraid that their enemies could themselves take advantage of Blondel’s discovers (the work, once published, was suddenly translated: the german edition is from the same year). Signed copy, dedicated to “Roussin, geographe et ingenieur du roi, 1693”. Some handed written notes on sides. Blondel (1618-1686) was an architect, engineer, mathematician and military, and teacher for the France Dauphine.
Two books. In 1827 Libri published on his own expenses his first three “Mémoires…”, reprinted in the ’29 book under the same title (but the ’29’s one is named “Tome premier” while the ’27’s is “premier cahier”). In the “Tome premier” there are three “mémoires” more and a final part in which the next works are annonced. But there wouldn’t have been more volumes of “Mémoires”. Both books are printed at author’s expense and are very rare. The one from ’29 has a light damage on errata leaves, and a dedication of the author to Prospero Balbo.
