His models, whether engines or paddle steamers are a collector's dream, and he also produces weird and wonderful machines such as the Fogrophone.
First edition, 8vo, [2], 17, [1]pp., 2 folding engraved plates of "Fumific Impellers [air-engines]", disbound. Alexander Gordon, civil engineer, proposed a new form of air-engine that he colourfully called the Fumific Impeller. He insisted that air was the technological way forward, and he claimed that those who suggested that heavy machinery was necessary to harness it's power were entirely mistaken.
