"Dall'antichità, l'uomo è affascinato dai fenomeni meteorologici, attribuiti alle divinità irate o capricciose, che cercava di mitigare con sacrifici e offerte. Fino al Medioevo le previsioni si elaboravano osservando i pianeti e le stelle, con istruzioni utili per eserciti, marinai e agricoltori. Dal Rinascimento, grazie a grandi viaggi in nave e a studiosi come Leonardo, Galilei, Torricelli la meteorologia si sviluppa in maniera più scientifica. La sconfitta di alcune grandi battaglie poi, a causa dei fenomeni atmosferici avversi, ha spinto la ricerca alla creazione dei primi servizi di previsione meteorologica. Solo nel '900 grazie a nuovi strumenti e a nuove scoperte scientifiche si riusciranno ad elaborare previsioni meteo, con discreto margine di attendibilità. Ma come venivano percepite le manifestazioni del tempo dalle genti di montagna? L'obiettivo della ricerca è stato quello di testimoniare come i montanari cercassero di fare le previsioni del tempo, osservando attentamente i segnali che la natura ancora oggi fornisce.
