Pforzheimer banker adn founder of the American Stock Exchange was one of the foremost 20th century collectors of English literature and known for his oft cited catalogue of his collection. Square tight and clean throughout with little or no wear and no page toning. Comes with original glassine wrapper which has some tiny nicks to edge and a small hole on the rear panel. Signed on th limitation page by both the author and A. Edward Newton who wrote the introduction. Further inscribed signed and dated by Eckel on the half-title page to Pforzheimer. "To Carl H. Black Panther Party handout given during the Alameda Peace and Freedom Party meeting in Berkeley California on January 31 1968. This pamphlet states the "Position of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense on the Seventh Congressional District election and the candidacy of John George in the Democratic Party." The Panthers were agitating for the Peace and Freedom Party a recently formed left-wing third party to endorse the candidacy of their secretary Huey P. Newton who had been jailed on charges of murdering a police officer over that of John George a progressive Black Democrat. In very good condition. unknown

Toning to heel from where a piece was missing from the jacket. Quite scarce second state dust-wrapper. Three inches of the the spine missing. Heavy toning. Surface scratches. Newton states that he believes Stokely Carmichael is an agent for the CIA and disavows his actions in the name of the Black Panther Party Stokely apparently leading a delegation of Black Panthers in Jordan. Huey Newton declares Carmichael to be acting on his own and for endorsing a vision of Black Power that adheres to capitalist practices that suppress Black people. While expressing allegiance with the people of Palestine Newton asserts that the Black Panther Party is not anti-Semitic and elucidates a complex position on the Palestinian and Israeli conflict. The purpose for the convention was to rewrite the US Constitution to ensure equal rights for oppressed groups including African Americans women and young people. Newsprint 1 sheet 4 pages with centerfold 11 3/8" x 17 1/2" opening to 22 3/4" x 17 1/2". Horizontal fold at center Very Good Plus horizontal crease near top edge small old tape mends at corners rear. Printed with titles front and rear text interior in four columns ending with the phrase "ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE". NOTE A separate version was published that featured "On the Constitution" and "Towards a New Constitution" authored by Eldridge Cleaver and Huey P.
