195680729New York: Rand McNally and Co 1956. First Edition. First Printing. Octavo. 22cm. Publisher's pale tan leatherette titled and decorated in black to spine and front board. Dustjacket. 240pp. Light bumping and shelfwear a very good clean copy in a bright dustjacket with some shallow wear and chipping to the edges. Internally clean and bright. A piece of parapsychological ethnography in which Ronald Rose and his wife Lyndon take tests designed to assess psychic abilities in people of European ancestry and attempt to apply them to Australian Aboriginal peoples. It's likely that the purpose and implementation would be seen as flawed by our current metrics despite the fact that the results "compare favorably" for whom and why What are the criteria for success and perhaps more importantly why are we comparing different ethnicities via their potential for psychic abilities but it does contain considerable interesting information on Aboriginal belief systems and has value as an example of Intruder Ethnography.
