Hardcover without dust jacket. From the library of Bernard Dixon with some very minor penned annotations from him on pages 80-81. Includes 65 illustrations within the text and 12 full-page plates. Boards are shelf and edgeworn, but very solid. Endpapers are lightly foxed and there is a hinge break at the FEP. Contents are clean, spine is tight and binding is sound. AD Used
Hardcover with plastic protected & lined dust jacket. Includes 20 full colour plates, 16 charts and numerous figures within the text, plus 6 pages of advertisements. Plates are all bright and clear, fold-out charts are all excellent. Jacket spine has a tear at head and a mark further down, edges are lightly worn. Boards have a few bumps along edges and some mild rubbing to corners. Gift dedication penned to FEP, dated 1936. Bookshop sticker to front pastedown and small abrasion from what looks like removed tape to the same. Rear pastedown still has a strip of tape down the middle. Faint marks to page block. Internally, pages are clean and unmarked. Spine is tight. AD Used

La prima edizione apparve nel 1943 e contava 5506 voci, dopo una seconda edizione ampliata, Leslie T. Morton nel 1970 ne ripropone una terza con 6804 voci. Testo in lingua inglese.
