O casco foi feito com o sistema composit ferro forrado a madeira de teca e nalgumas partes com zinco. nas obras vivas. Armavam em lugre-barca e dispunham ainda de motorização a vapor com 500 cavalos de potência. </em>Para além das missões diplomáticas estiveram ainda nas estações navais portuguesas em Ãfrica e no Oriente desempenhando várias missões nomeadamente o combate à pirataria.</p>_x000d_<p>Augusto Vidal de Castilho Barreto e Noronha Lisboa 1841 – Lisboa 1912 foi um célebre militar da Marinha Portuguesa. Filho do celebrado poeta cego Antonio Feliciano de Castilho 1.º Visconde da Castilho e afilhado do grande historiador Alexandre Herculano. Seguiu com distinção os cursos superiores para entrar na carreira naval e ainda antes de os terminar embarcou numa expedição militar para Ãfrica ocidental reprimir uma insurreição de negros. Desde então foram-lhe dadas várias comissões de serviço ora militar ora civil e diplomáticas das quais se desempenhou com louvores merecidos.</p>_x000d_<p>A sua carreira começou na Escola Naval em 1859 tendo servido em Angola na Ãndia em Moçambique onde também foi Governador-geral de 1885 a 1889 e no Brasil.Foi Governador-civil do Distrito do Porto Director-geral da Marinha e ministro da Marinha e Ultramar. Colaborou na revista <em>A Imprensa</em> 1885-1891 e dirigiu a revista <em>Brasil-Portugal</em> 1899-1914. Fez parte da Maçonaria tendo sido iniciado no ano de 1870 no Grande Oriente Lusitano Unido. Includes a general table of contents and a list of illustrations in the final pages. Report is divided into four parts: the first comprises instructions from the Directorate-General of the Navy; the second contains detailed extracts from the Nautical Log a description and discussion of each voyage illustrated with a map; the third part details the shipÂ’s income and expenditure that is the sums received and spent in the various ports and their uses; and the fourth part brings together observations on the various aspects of the ship its equipment and fittings including the instruments used in navigation such as compasses chronometers and more.</p>_x000d_<p>The gunboat 'Rio Lima': 1875–1910 was built in England Birkenhead in 1875 alongside the gunboats Sado and Tâmega as described in an article in the magazine <em>Occidente</em> from 1890 with the following characteristics: Weighing 638 tonnes the 'Rio Lima' was slightly smaller than the other two which weighed 645 tonnes. The hull was constructed using the composite system with iron clad in teak and in some parts zinc on the underwater sections. They were rigged as luggers and were also equipped with a 500-horsepower steam engine. In addition to diplomatic missions they were also stationed at Portuguese naval bases in Africa and the East carrying out various missions notably the fight against piracy.</p>_x000d_<p>Augusto Vidal de Castilho Barreto e Noronha Lisbon 1841 – Lisbon 1912 was a distinguished officer in the Portuguese Navy. He was the son of the celebrated blind poet António Feliciano de Castilho 1st Viscount of Castilho and the godson of the great historian Alexandre Herculano. He completed his higher education with distinction to embark on a naval career and even before finishing his studies embarked on a military expedition to West Africa to suppress a black uprising. From then on he was given various posts some military some civil and some diplomatic all of which he performed with well-deserved praise.</p>_x000d_<p>His career began at the Naval Academy in 1859 and he served in Angola India Mozambique where he was also Governor-General from 1885 to 1889 and Brazil. He was Civil Governor of the District of Porto Director-General of the Navy and Minister for the Navy and Overseas Territories. He contributed to the magazine<em> A Imprensa</em> 1885–1891 and edited the magazine <em>Brasil-Portugal</em> 1899–1914. He was a Freemason having been initiated in 1870 into the <em>Grande Oriente Lusitano Unido</em>.
