Biotechnology is a range of enabling technologies that will find significant applications in many industrial sectors. It is a technology in search of new applications and the main benefits lie under future. The applications of biotechnology are so broad that virtually every industry is using this technology. Developments are underway in areas as diverse as pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, textile, aquaculture, forestry, chemicals, household products, environmental cleanup, food processing and forensics to name a few. Biotechnology holds significant promises to the future but must be carefully regulated so that the maximum benefits are received with least risk. Designed for students, teachers and researchers of modern life sciences, this book is an explorative journey through biotechnology. It focuses on various biotechnological techniques and applications which have the potential to provid real benefits to the mankind. The present book provides an insight into a number of core and important areas of biotechnology. It begins with basic scientific concepts, then guides reader through multi-staged biotechnical applications and finally explores the effect of biotechnology on today’s society and on future generations. 1 vol. in-8 br., Angelo Signorelli Editore, Roma, s.d.
