A very rare catalogue of hundreds of fruit trees offered for sale by Cottin. 32 pp. Provides a full description of each tree and its fruit. An association copy from the collection of Comte Hippolyte de Castillon de Saint-Victor (1830-1898), who assembled a celebrated library in the field of botany (his signature on front wrapper). Several neat, contemporary manuscript additions. Small 8vo. Original wraps. Wraps worn but complete. Internally very clean. Extraordinarily rare: I have located no other copies.

Prima edizione singola rara, nessun esemplare censito in ICCU di questa memoria di interesse medico e farmaceutica dedicata ad alcuni esperimenti fatti dal noto medico torinese Vincenzo Cristin. Il libello, dopo un’introduzione sulla provenienza della pianta da dove si è ricavato il nuovo medicinale, passa poi ad indicare il processo e la composizione dello stesso, descrive i risultati ottenuti con l’utilizzo di questo nuovo tipo di china ricavato dalla pianta Hylocereus undatus. Questa è una pianta della famiglia delle Cactaceae. Il suo frutto viene chiamato Pitahaya o Pitaya e può essere rosso (in inglese Red Dragon Fruit) oppure giallo. Le ultime due pagine contengono il giudizio esperto del farmacista Schiapparelli. Raro ed in ottime condizioni di conservazione.
