It won wide popularity on account of its clearness and elegance in the mode of treatment. D'Aubuisson held closely to the methodical arrangement of the subject introduced by Werner and took his illustrative examples chiefly from French geology. His deviation of Werner's teaching was the insertion of Tertiary formations between the Secundary deposits and diluvial clays and gravels.
