A detailed work exploring the figure of the angler in British art with chapters on watercolours land and sea painting language in art as well as studies on individual artists and their sporting work. Written by Walter Shaw Sparrow a Welsh writer on art and architecture with a special interest in British sporting artists. With a preface by Hugh Tempest Sheringham an English writer considered one of the greatest angling writers of his generation. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities resulting in minor fraying. Fading to the spine and edges of the boards. The odd mark to the board. Residue from library sticker to the tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Light age toning to the endpapers.
