Known for horror and mystery but his most popular was "When It Was Dark" with an outright Jewish conspirac theme. He was connected to Wilde through his friendship with the Decadent publisher Leonard Smithers. This is a Very Good Minus copy of the First American Edition issued a year later than the English version and less common. Light green cloth binding. Titling in gilt with dark green decorative stamping on the front cover; titling and decorations on the spine in gilt. Clean text; viii 400 pages; indexed; top edge is gilt.; frontis portrait of a young Wilde by S. Wray. Showing some wear with rubbing at the margins. Bumped and somewhat shaken due to some cracking.
