1959035375London: British Ornithologist's Union 1959. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo 18 x 25.5 cm. Uniformally bound in the publisher's bright red cloth binding gilt vignette of an Ibis to the front board with some blind stamped detail. Bindings have some signs of silverfish damage to the surface of the cloth on the spines bright gilt lettering to the spines corners are a little bumped/rounded binding firm. Contents clean and tight a few spots to endpapers of volume 102 only otherwise unmarked. A great deal of interesting article photographic plates and charts within. A clean run of nine volumes 1959 to 1967 inclusive. Heavy set so a little surcharge may be required to cover the cost of using a courier service please enquire for more details. Illustrated with 25 colour plates and one plain engraved plate of equipment small octavo pp viii 240 the text pages are very clean but the book is becoming very weak with badly cracked hinges the front hinge in particularly is badly sprung and the endpaper is protruding. Whilst most of the plates are good a couple are suffering from light foxing but a few others have suffered at the hands of a careless original colourist with the odd small splashmar and in one case a smeared image. Contemporary full calf rubbed and worn with the rear cover rather scuffed. From the library of Alan Roger of Dundonnell House in the Highlands; Roger had a notable garden there with many caged birds.
