Ferro Pascal Joseph Ferro ab 1805 Pasqual Joseph Ritter von Ferro 5. Juni 1753 in Bonn - 21. August 1809 in Wien war ein deutscher Arzt Sanitätsreferent der niederösterreichischen Landesverwaltung und Hochschullehrer in Wien der das moderne Sanitäts- und Rettungsdienstwesen sowie die Kuhpockenimpfung in Österreich eingeführt hat. Pascal Joseph wurde 1753 in Bonn als Sohn des Offiziers Johann Lazarus Ferro aus Treviso und der Anna Catharina Komerscheid geboren. Mit 14 Jahren begann er zunächst eine Ausbildung als Wundarzt damals ein Handwerksberuf und ging dann zum Militär. Von 1771 bis 1775 war er Feldscher eines pfälzischen Kavallerieregiments. Ferro wollte jedoch Arzt werden und studierte Medizin in Heidelberg Straßburg und Wien. Er blieb in Wien und war zunächst Assistenzarzt am Parzmayerschen Spital ehe er 1785 in den sanitären Verwaltungsdienst eintrat mit dem Titel Sanitätsmagister von Wien. Im Jahr 1793 wurde er zum Sanitätsreferent der niederösterreichischen Landesregierung im Rang eines Regierungsrates ernannt. In dieser Position sorgte er für die Einrichtung eines Rettungswesens und regelte das Bestattungswesen. 1780 begann Ferro als Mediziner mit Kaltwasserbehandlungen Hydrotherapie und Sauerstofftherapie zudem konstruierte er ein Badefloß als schwimmende Badeanstalt auf der Donau. -cf. wiki unknown

An attractive broadside promotional for the St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway with a large engraving in the center depicting the route from St. Louis through Arkansas and into Texas beneath a train wheel bearing wings about which the motto "Bound for the happy lands" appears all in the center of a circle of stars. A schedule of ticket costs for various routes is included as well as a pitch directed at homesteaders regarding the purchase of government lands. The names of three land agents are listed at bottom - one in Missouri one in Illinois and one in Arkansas. <br> <br> The railway touts their "large grant of lands from the United States Government embracing all varieties of soil and timber adapted to Farming Fruit Growing and Grazing purposes.Immigrants can locate on railroad land in well improved neighborhoods having Roads Mills Churches and Schools and peopled by honest and industrious citizens who will give a cordial welcome to all good people coming among them." <br> <br> Only six copies in OCLC spread over four records located at Yale SMU Michigan the University of Texas at Arlington Truman State and the University of Missouri at St. Louis. The company promotes this iron post to be both stronger and cheaper than wooden posts. The company claims the posts are economical durable safe beautiful and strong. The posts are covered with a special coating to prevent rust fires do not affect them nor do floods carry them away and the posts and wire do not fill up with snow banks as with ordinary fences. The posts are manufactured by The American Iron Post and Construction Company at their manufacturing plant located in Wellsville Ohio and by special arrangement with the well-known iron firm of W. D. Wood & Company of Pittsburgh. The company further states "It is now conceded that in the great West the wire fence for the purpose of extensive cattle ranches for prairie farms and for railroads is superior to all others; and a want has been long felt for a post whose strength cheapness and durability would make this iron fence system complete -- one which the forest and prairie fires would not burn -- one which would do away with the expense and tedium of hole-digging -- one that could be cheaply and quickly put up and which would last a life-time." Minor dust-soiling creasing and edge wear. A post-Civil War manuscript agreement from Texas with the signatures of twenty-six investors transferring their stock in the Brazos Iron Bridge Company to John Sealy of the Galveston Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway Company. Additionally the document is noted and signed on the verso by Sealy transferring those same shares to Thomas W. Peirce. The document is accompanied by fourteen receipts for installment payments on capital stock purchased in the Brazos Iron Bridge Company some of which relates directly to the larger transfer agreement. The Brazos Iron Bridge Company was organized in 1867. Its mission was to construct a railway bridge across the Brazos River. The bridge completed in July 1869 was purchased by the Buffalo Bayou Brazos and Colorado Railway later known as the Galveston Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway Company. When the dust settled on the various transactions among the shareholders John Sealy owned a one-eighth interest in the railway company. Sealy moved from Pennsylvania to Galveston in 1846 and became an important early Galveston merchant real estate investor and railroad magnate. unknown

It partnered with the Steel Workers Organizing Committee of the CIO in November 1935. Both organizations disbanded May 22 1942 to form a new organization the United Steelworkers. They suffered significant setbacks from the results of the Homestead Strike and their other labor organizing efforts and strikes in early 20th century Pittsburgh and became linked with the AFL which gave them greater traction that increased with the merger of the AFL and CIO. A foundational document in American labor history: one can see the direct influence of fraternal organizations and masonic societies on the rituals of membership in the earliest days of this labor union. The brochure outlines the benefits of the climate the resources and agriculture in the region ease of transport and access and other features: "People from all sections of the country who desire to better their condition are cordially invited to come to Arkansas and secure cheap homes. All classes of citizens without regard to political opinions join to build up the material interests of the state and develop its extraordinary resources. The colored people constitute only one-fourth of the population." The usual "Bound for the Happy Lands" circular woodcut of the railroad adorns two panels and a small map highlights the Texas Short Line from St. Louis to Texarkana. With the ink stamp of Henry H.
