Volume 25 contains only 2 numbers no. 1-2. The final part of this journal was issued in January 1942. At that point due to WWII the journal ceased to be published. Three supplements accompany this work. Bound in at the end of volume 12 is "Diseases of Aquarium Fishes" volumes 17-18 no. 10-17 65 pages 1934. At the end of volume 13 is "Fish Foods and Feeding Methods" volume 17 no. 4-9 47 pages 1939. Finally at the end of volume 18 is "Progressive steps in amateur Fish Culture Exotique" volume 16 no. 1-12 88 pages 1932-1933. Publication of a second series of Aquatic Life and the Aquatic World not offered here commenced in 1951. This second series is being offered separately. No ownership marks and few signs of use. As the editor August Roth was 84 years of age when the 50th anniversary issue was published it appears the second series of this journal ends with that issue. The final number states this is the "Oldest aquarist's magazine in the English language." It is also states that this is the "Oldest aquarist's magazine in America Est. 1915." This second series is quite rare. There are no records of this journal in any American or European library. No ownership marks and few signs of use. 1133511 Wellington Mansions North Bank N.W. on cancelled letterhead of the Savile Club Piccadilly; 20 January no year. 3pp. 12mo. In fair condition on lightly-aged paper with a thin strip of glue in gutter from previous mounting. Lankester complains that he has 'not received a copy of Mr. Sedgwick's translation of Claus' Handbook of Zoology'. He has 'a large number of students annually over 60 at University College' to whom he would recommend the book if he had it. 'I should wish to be able to place it on the lecture table for them to see.' He claims that it is 'usual for publishers to enable teachers to do this kind of thing - by sending them copies of works likely to be recommended'. Since he uses the German edition of the book himself he has 'no intention of purchasing a copy of the English translation' and asks them to 'send me a presentation copy to University College'. Accompanying the letter is a photographic portrait of Lankester removed from a magazine and neatly attached to a paper mount.
