Questo libro, dapprima facente parte de “The Inn of Tranquillity” fu pubblicato nel 1912 e quindi in edizione a parte e illustrata nel 1914 da Maud Alice Earl (1864-1943), eminente artista anglo-americana specializzata nei dipinti di razze canine. John Galsworthy (1867-1933), romanziere e drammaturgo inglese; ottenne la fama nel 1907 quando fu pubblicato il romanzo ‘The man of property’, primo del ciclo della celebre ‘The Forsyte Saga’.. Fondatore e primo presidente del PEN Club, ebbe il premio Nobel per la letteratura nel 1932”. Così Diz. Treccani,V, p. 202. Esemplare ben conservato.
