Colonel Richard Henry Meinertzhagen CBE DSO 1878-1967. Soldier intelligence officer and ornithologist. Meinertzhagen fought with Allenby in The Great War and attended the Peace Conference with T. E. Lawrence. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order in February 1916 and his writing was greatly admired by the thriller writer Ian Fleming. This copy is from the comprehensive Fleming archive assembled by bibliographer Jon Gilbert with accompanying provenance bookplate and pencilled signature. Gilbert p.631-2.
