Black/red wraps with color image and white lettering. 875 pp. with no illustrations. 1 or 2 charts. The reign of the entourages: Cabinets and advisers of the executive. Conference publication. Text in French. = Not a line of the French Constitution mentions them and yet the "shadowy collaborators" - less and less discreet - who surround our political leaders have continued to prosper over the regimes to the point that our Fifth Republic -residential has become a Republic of advisers. Nothing is accomplished without or against them. What a paradox that no scholarly work has been devoted to them for more than thirty years! Far from polemics and caricatures this book repairs forgetfulness. It brings together a team of historians politicians jurists sociologists and anthropologists including many foreign specialists as well as former cabinet members. From the King's "creatures" as the Grand Siecle designated them to the dir 'cabs and young entourages of Presidents Sarkozy and Hollande through the Brussels "cabinetocracy" and the White House advisers he shows the generalization of Phenomenon at all levels of power in contemporary democracies. Both scholarly and tasty this book opens up avenues for reflection to enrich the debate on the role and influence of the Prince's advisers. Presses de Sciences Po paperback books
