47889One of the Chicago Bears' most legendary rosters was that of 1963 when their record stood at 11-1-2 and they defeated the New York Giants to win the NFL Championship Game. Fine pictorial 18-page booklet "Chicago's Last World Champions: The '63 Bears" reprinted by the Chicago Tribune in 1977. This 4to 8½" X 11" softbound memento reprints a handful of journalist Don Pierson's articles on the team -- and is accompanied by a collection of 10 bold ink signatures on fine matching heavy stock 5" X 3" cards and one signed photograph. Alphabetically: Doug Atkins 1930-2015 Tom Bettis 1933-2015 Jim Cadile Larry Glueck Bobby Joe Green 1936-93 Bob Jencks 1941-2010 -- with lengthy inscription and noting "1963 World Champions" Ted Karras 1934-2016 Roger Leclerc 1936-2021 Earl Leggett 1933-2008 and Larry Morris 1933-2012. All ten signers date their cards all but one 1989 in the 1970s. Conditions range from fine to very good. Original transmittal envelopes are present for all but one Atkins. The single signed photograph is Mike Ditka born 1939 -- who went on to coach the Bears to their first Super Bowl win in 1986. Glossy 5 3/4" X 4" this color picture postcard shows Ditka in 1988 seated at a table in front of an enormous steak at his trendy Chicago restaurant message portion on verso bearing a printed greeting. He signs boldly in black fineline alongside his image. A delightful unusual sampling from almost a dozen members of one of this team's most memorable rosters. unknown
10220The album dates from the 1930s; the drawings are undated and would appear to be slightly later. 4to album with the 29 pages of drawings on 28 leaves on the rectos except on one leaf where they are on both sides. The album gives evidence of having been re-used but gives no evidence as to the identity of the artist. While the covers of the album are worn with the spine becoming detached and with its leaves of discoloured high-acidity paper all the drawings are clear and complete consisting of twenty-eight full-page studies and the remaining page the first with three studies on it. A few of the illustrations are lightly- and tastefully-coloured in pastel watercolour. Attractive illustrations executed in an assured and striking style with skilful cross-hatching adding depth to an accurate fine line and with a slightly-disquieting anthropomorphic element. One teddy bear is dressed as an English army officer; another walks a dog and holds a balloon in front of an igloo; another drives a 1920s car along a winding road; another stands with a bicycle; another is dressed as a clown with a striped stick; two play football with a quilted ball; twin bears both in polka-dot shorts embrace; one carries two pails of water in buckets hanging from a pole balanced on his shoulders from his cave in which a fire burn. One illustration features several on a shelf in front of a bookcase; several others feature a monkey dressed as a hotel porter. There is one full-page drawing of Mickey Mouse hand on hip tongue out looking upwards. The album dates from the 1930s; the drawings are undated, and would appear to be slightly later. unknown

222 pages including index and bibliography. A revision of the author's thesis, Princeton University, 1974. Using data from the 1897 Imperial Russian Census, the author examines two types of migration: that to an already settled, relatively modern area, such as the major cities; and that to a sparsely populated, relatively traditional area, such as the agricultural frontier. Concludes that migration within European Russia and from European Russia to Asiatic Russia supports the model. Book clean and unmarked with negligible wear. Dust jacket bears closed half-inch tear to top of spine, else moderate wear. Very nice copy. Book

243 pages. Includes many black and white photos. "During our one hundred years, I believe that our customers, employees, and shareholders have all benefited. We have provided a worthwhile service to many, both here and abroad. We have maintained secure, and, I hope, satisfying employment for thousands worldwide. 10 page board book. Cuddly Little Bear is being kept awake by spooky sounds in his bedroom, but Mommy is there to make everything all right. A familiar childhood scene is brought to life by the voices of Mommy and Little Bear. Average wear. Binding splitting at page 3. Bit of price sticker-induced peeling to front board. All sounds working loud and clear. Blue illustrated glossy boards have average bumping. Considering the notoriously poor binding quality of these books, this is a decent copy. Book
Unpaginated. Moderately soiled and worn. Let the child to whom you are reading this book see the pictures and say them. You'll be amazed at how quickly children catch on and enjoy participating in the story-telling. Book
