Later edition of the famous narrative of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca first published in 1542. Cabeza de Vaca gives an account of his expedition to Florida in 1527 his capture by and escape from Indians on the Mississippi coast and his later overland journey across Texas before finally making his way back to Spanish controlled lands in Mexico. The original work was the first on Texas and the first American travel account. A foundation work on Texas and the Southwest. Breton écrira à propos de ces lettres de guerre qu'elles sont "une magnifique introduction à tout ce qui recouvre l'étiquette Dada. Il y a là tous les manifestes qu'on voudra, pas une négation ne manque" dans une lettre à Jacques Doucet datant du 4 janvier 1921. En fin d'ouvrage, l'article L'Opium, extrait de L'Express de l'Ouest du 9 janvier 1919, reproduit en fac-similé, dans lequel est annoncée la mort de Jacques Vaché et de l'un de ses amis, à la suite de l'absorption d'une trop forte dose d'opium et dans lequel les deux victimes sont présentées à la fois comme de "jeunes écervelés" sans expérience de la drogue ainsi que comme "de braves soldats qui avaient fait leur devoir devant l'ennemi et avaient été blessés".
