Preface.<br /> <br /> This set is the second series of dermatologic studies of various skin diseases with detailed descriptions and index in volume one. The second volume contains forty-eight hand-colored photogravures accompanying the text pages depicting the various skin conditions. This volume contains a list of illustrations at front. Binding with some wear along edges light chips and scuffing with one one by a quarter inch chip at lower part of the leather binding. Previous owner's name inked to both front free endpapers. Volume one with some damp-staining on front free endpaper and title page. Volume two starting at inside front cover and presumably half title and title page missing. Original red cloth binding; other than some loose leaves interior excellent. “Physician’s edition.†Fox 1846-1937 was professor of dermatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons New York and consulting dermatologist to the Board of Health in the same city. As was customary in his day he traveled as a young man to Europe for further training and studied with Virchow in Berlin Bazin Hardy and Vidal in Paris Tilbury Fox and Jonathan Hutchinson in London and notably with Hebra in Vienna. He has made many contributions particularly to symptomology and is one of the founders of the American Dermatological Association. This important atlas of skin diseases is his major work. His first atlas Photographic illustration of skin diseases 1880 had only 48 plates.
