'Monies Missing' is an allusion to the squandering of Lord Holland's fortune see BMSat 5223 1774. The significance of the initials other than those indicating the Prince of Wales then estranged from Fox cf. BMSat 8311 is obscure; they may reversed indicate Earl of Derby Duke of Bedford Earl of Carlisle Duke of Portland. For Fox's winnings at faro see BMSats 5972 5997 1782. WALTER-FILM005816Fox. No binding. Very Good. Los Angeles: Fox Pictures 1929. Vintage original 8 x 10" 20 x 25 cm. black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo. Chips at all four edges. Small border tear at mid right-side margin and at mid bottom white margin. Very good. This unusual portrait of Mary Astor is most likely for her 1929 Fox film THE WOMAN FROM HELL in which she played a carnival performer known as the "devil" who sells kisses. When things go awry she is rescued and marries her hero. Astor appears to be quite tawdry in this portrait which has her name stamp on the verso as well as the Fox Film Argentina stamp. 300.00 WALTER-FILM005816 Fox unknown

200211520New York: Hyperion 2002. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/near fine. Octavo 260pp. A crisp clean copy near fine with the spine very gently cocked and just a hint of edgewear. In a near fine dust jacket a tinge creased. This copy SIGNED and quite warmly INSCRIBED by Fox on the title page: "Janet - This has been such a great experience Many thanks love - Michael J. Fox." Most copies we've encountered described as signed are signed on a bookplate and we have not seen one with such a lengthy inscription. We think it's possible if unlikely that the inscription is secretarial but the autograph itself is certianly Fox's hand. Hyperion hardcover

N.d. circa 1910. 12mo. 346 pp. Although Renard's work inspired a number of famous artists Bonnard's simple deliberately naive-styled line drawings perfectly match the highly economic whimsy of the prose.
