1872021074London: John Murray 1872. First edition but a very poor copy. LACKING - about a third of the first folding plate. LACKING - the advertisements at the end. DAMAGE - to the original front endpaper which has lost its corner and had a repair see illustration. DAMAGE - adhesion damage to the upper corner of the title page and rather stained see illustration. Internally - rather age-toned marked and stained. The photographic plates are very chipped and frayed. Plate 1 is lacking a piece as mentioned earlier; Plate 2 has one fold detached but still present. Binding - completely new strong green cloth a black cloth label on the spine "Darwins' Emotions" and blue/green endpapers. Almost certainly the second issue - Freeman 1142. The plates have Arabic numbers with signature 'b' on page v; and there is the misprint 'htat' on first line of page 208. Very Strange - there are two pages v/vi ! They appear to be identical. Very much a working copy but offered cheaply. . First Edition. Cloth. Poor. John Murray Hardcover
