Waters to General Sir Herbert Taylor Military secretary and adc to the Duke First Private Secretary to King George III King George IV and King William IV. An important letter regarding subscriptions to erect a monument in memory of "the lamented Duke of York" who has been "has been falsely and shamefully traduced by the Catholic Leaders for his constitutional candid & manly opposition to any further concessions being allowed them" and "for his resolute declaration to uphold the principles which placed the desired House of Brunswick on the Throne". Also referring to a Madame des Mallet. Good condition with edge toning/creasing and browning to folds/edges.
