It was modeled after the Decamerone by Boccaccio and depicts the participants of a 13-night party on the island of Murano and the wild tales they tell. lt is also known as The Facetious Nights of Straparola. Volume one has nine b/w photogravure engravings including the frontis volume two has nine including frontis and all with protective Japanese tissue guards. Head and tails of spines and edges rubbed and bumped light soiling. Age yellowing to pages acid transfers from engravings mark the tissue guards. Binding in good interior in very good condition.
