Louis Figuier 1819 - 1894 was a French scientist writer and professor of chemistry at L'Ecole de pharmacie of Montpellier. Editor P. Martin Duncan 1821 - 1891; F.R.S. from 1868 was a distinguished naturalist who edited Cassell's Natural History 1876-82. To Figuier's study Duncan made some corrections and notice of the Thysanoptera Thrips cerealium plus researches on the "evolution" of Stylops of the Strepsiptera a flying parasite which attacked the larvae of bees and wasps.
