La sceneggiatura si sviluppa sulle sue parole, che, attraverso suono e immagini, inscenano visioni, agganciate a realtà trasfigurate nella sublimazione dell’umano. Le finestre interpretative percorrono alcune prose poetiche e poesie di Campana, similmente a un controcanto finalizzato a cogliere raffinate sinestesie, trasposizioni artistiche, o ad evocare similitudini letterarie. Il libro è impreziosito da una ouverture di Valerio Meattini, filosofo, poeta ed amico, che, nel suono dei versi di Campana, si congiunge alle tensioni nascenti dal magma di dolore e gioia che il poeta ha sofferto e cantato. In una brillante esibizione di abilità nel comando, quest'ultimo sbaragliò l'esercito avversario, più numeroso, che si ritirò inseguito da quello di Cesare sino a quando alla fine si arrese. Si Sheppard descrive con efficacia gli eventi che accompagnarono la campagna di Farsalo, e le sconvolgenti implicazioni del confronto decisivo fra i due più importanti generali dell'epoca.

First published in July 1935. One of the scarcest of Street's early publications. All early issues are very scarce, especially in the dustwrapper.

One of the earliest escape narratives. The author was captured near Tobruk whilst commanding 5th New Zealand Infantry Brigade and placed in Campo 12 near Florence. During his captivity he shared quarters with VC holders Neame and Carton de Wiart whose exploits he recorded in detail. Hargest was one of the highest ranking Allied escapers on WWII. After a successful home run he returned to Europe on D-Day with 50th (Northumbrian) Division to be killed in action two months later. Enser, p.149; Mulholland & Jordan, H28.

Il marketing elettorale e le manipolazioni dell'informazione non sono fenomeni recenti, ma solo con la rete si è arrivati ad annullare le distanze sul piano dello spazio e delle gerarchie. Il caso di Alex Anderson, finto candidato alla presidenza degli USA nel 2016, è il simbolo di questa nuova stagione politica: il congressman frutto della fantasia di un autore italiano ottiene seguito e consenso perché costruito in maniera credibile. Non è vero, ma verosimile, e questo basta in una società in cui le notizie si susseguono così velocemente da non poter essere verificate con attenzione. L'analisi della campagna elettorale di Anderson è ripercorsa con continui riferimenti storici e presenta un interrogativo di fondo: non è stata altro che una democratica illusione? La tesi di laurea dell'autore, presentata in veste editoriale e arricchita dalla prefazione di Alessandro Nardone - il "vero" Alex Anderson - prova a dare una risposta.
