In light ochre faux leather paper bound slip case. Lark Rise by Flora Thompson is a semi-autobiographical novel that nostalgically portrays rural life in late 19th century England. A near fine book boards bound in publisher's original light brown cloth with gilt titles over burgundy cartouche to the spine previous owner's name in black ink to the front free end paper mild spotting to the prelims and to the fore-edge and bottom of the text block some toning to the top edge of text block slight bumping to the head of the spine. In a very good wrapper with open tears to head of the spine chipping to the knuckles of the front and rear flap folds some fading to the spine and mild spotting throughout the wrapper clipped and re-priced by the publisher '8s 6d net' to the lower front flap. Bibliographic note: these three books were subsequently published as a single volume in 1945 by Oxford University Press entitled "Lark Rise to Candleford" with wood engravings by Julie Neild.
