The original cloth covered boards are bright and clean with the normal inset picture on the front board is flawless. The foredge has some slight bumps but with no effect on the cloth. 19181946<p>The Girl's Own Paper was an illustrated weekly paper which from 1880 to 1956 could be found in most British homes. More for young women than 'girls' it combined a mixture of stories and educational articles musical scores and poetry and items about cooking sewing and housekeeping. It evolved to include career advice and articles about science as well as pieces about a woman's responsibilities. It became a significant cultural touchstone helping to document and shape British society.</p><p>At the end of every year the issues of the paper were gathered together in the Girl's Own Annual. This is a copy of Volume 39 the Annual for 1918.</p><p>Image 1 is a scan.</p><p>It is olive boards 9" x 11" x 1 1/2" and just under 5 lbs.</p><p>672 pages packed with photos and illustrations.</p><p>There are lots of marks on the back cover and some rubbing and discoloration to the front cover and spine.</p><p>Just at the spine on the inside the cover has come away a little and should be re-glued.</p><p>Other than the expected darkening of the paper the inside is in perfect condition.</p><p>Note: Additional shipping costs may be required.</p> The Girl's Own Paper hardcover

Minor wear to the back.<br />On the front endpaper there is an inscription from father to daughter.</p><p>The daughter didn't read it apparently. 48676William Clowes and Sons Limited. Hardcover. Good. Huge red hardcover with "Christmas 1911" gift inscription so this is the 1911 or 1912 edition although to year is stated. The front cover depicts a woman holding her broad hat edges in the wind and a similar woman and hat appear in the spine decoration. The overall condition is good with a few blemishes: light exterior wear with slight fraying and a few small cloth breaks at spine ends slight soiling. The image of the woman on the front is moderately worn with slight scratches. The binding is completely secure however the paper over the interior hinges is broken. 768 pages profusely illustrated with pale foxing spots on the edges. 5.4 lbs <br/> <br/> William Clowes and Sons, Limited hardcover
