Perspectives from the past to the future" (giovedì 12 ottobre 2017, Academia Belgica di Roma) è stato il primo convegno del comitato scientifico della collana di saggi "Speaking souls. Animæ loquentes" pubblicata dalla casa editrice Agorà & Co. e diretta da Marcello De Martino: esso si è prefisso come scopo precipuo quello di riproporre l'attualità dell'interconnessione tra linguistica, antropologia e storia delle religioni. I contributi dei partecipanti evidenziano tutti una ricerca di sistemi e di strutture all'interno dei complessi mitologici che si oppone alla vague attuale degli studi umanistici, scevri spesso da ogni prospettiva storico-comparativa: proseguendo nel solco tracciato da Friedrich Max Müller, James George Frazer e Georges Dumézil, infine il convegno è stato un dialogo tra convenuti, che messi intorno a un tavolo come fossero Pritani accanto al fuoco di Hestia hanno discusso di temi vitali per le indagini di antichistica, gettando così nuova luce sulle origini - anche indoeuropee - del mondo religioso classico.

El autor fue vecino de Robert Louis Stevenson en Samoa entre 1890 y 1893 en que como alma itinerante partió hacia la Polinesia Oriental en busca de islas vírgenes. A su vuelta a Sidney se topó con Louis Becke quien le habló de una isla que llamaba Venecia cubierta enteramente por la jungla y situada "en el mar de las pequeñas islas". Es así como fue a parar en las Carolinas, sobre las que escribió éste primer libro, fascinado por su belleza y por el misterio de las ruinas monumentales de Lele Island. . Cabe recordar que el año de publicación de esta obra España había vendido las islas a Alemania.
