Two antiquarian texts by John Cary bound as one: Contemporary leather wallet style presentation with signs of wear some internal renovation tastefully done old leather binding with fold over flap which would at one point have had a clasp. Marbled endpaper to the flap otherwise plain endpapers size: 7.5 x 5.00 x 2 inches approx. this book does contain inscriptions from the earlier owners to the title pages and endpapers adds a bit of provinance and character. The first part consists of "Cary's Traveller's Companion or a Delineation of the Turnpike Roads of England and Wales shewing immediate Routes every Market Borough Town throughouit the United Kingdom laid down from the best Authority on a New Set of County Maps. To which is added an Alphabetical List of the Market Towns with the days on which they are held " 44 maps hand coloured followed by a list of 'Market and Borough Towns in England and Wales also Figures of Reference to the Routes given at the end fro the Metropolis to each town. ' this is followed by a list of the Routes exhibiting the Direct Road by Reference to the Maps the work ends with a series of contemporary advertisements. The second work follows immediatly with an instruction to the binder and then the title pages. " Cary's New Itinerary or an accurate Delineation of the Great Roads both direct and cross throughtout England and Wales; with many of the Principal Roads in Scotland from the actual admended supplement by John Cary Made by command of his Majesty's Postmaster General for Official Purposes Under the Direction of Thomas Hasker Surveyor and Superintendant of the Mail Coaches.
