The Union's goals were to promote the establishment of Sunday schools and to provide local communities with libraries and materials for religious instruction. From the beginning this was a non-denominational organization that set aside differences in doctrine to teach the masses the cardinal truths of Christianity." Thirteenth Report contains a typed letter laid in loose from the same. Holls was the Director of the Institution and on the Board of Managers. Reports cover from May 1 1875 to May 1 of each of the following years through 1879. The Wartburg Orphans' Farm School was founded in 1866 serving children who had lost parents during the Civil War.
