Since language is the foundation of all learning, the planning for teaching languages demands not only a scholarly but psychological approach, too. Thought the three language formula is an official language policy of the Government of India, yet the fact cannot be denied that its impact on the genre public should be assessed. The students, the teachers and the public men are directly or indirectly affected by such policies, especially when the curriculum is being loaded by the advanced scientific subjects in theist fast moving world of today. Moreover 15 languages have been given equal status in the Constitution of India. Besides, the knowledge of one of the international languages has also become imperative. The students are compelled to learn whoever languages are being offered by the authorities of the educational institutions. If the future of the mother tongue and the official language of our country remain dark where lies the future of the language of the scriptures - our cultural heritage? The learning of a common language as a great unifying force for integrating the different states is another requirement. Moreover, the autonomy given to states in the field of education creates another hurdle in the solutions, if there is any. The author is this book has made an effort to highlight such burning issues. About the Book, This book is a collection of thoughts expressed by the authors from time to time in the past. on our higher education's system and related matters. The articles bring out the various problems that mire our educational system. The problems are of long standing nature and attempt to correct and bring about improvement through various committees and commissions have met with little success. The system needs overhaul from the top but unfortunately, this has not been possible. Selection of persons to different posts is mired with corruption and political interference. India is a multi-racial country. Different parts have different cultural traits and levels of development. It is not uncommon to find that there are certain tribes, which are not yet touched even by the fringe of civilization. Aboriginal are examples of this. The word tribe is taken to denote a primary aggregate of people lining under primitive or barbarous condition under a headman or chief. Tribes is a group of families living as a community under one or more chiefs, united by language and customs. The main and vital objective of this volume is to make in the book a few selected articles that represent some kind of contributions to the knowledge of tribal education. While writing the articles I have tried completely to emphasis on concept, principles and applied aspects of tribal education. This volume will be highly useful to faculty members, researchers, policy makers, local self govt. and NGOs working on tribal development and to the general public.
