He begins by congratulating Lister on the birth of his daughter ‘and the safety of Lady Theresa’. According to his entry in the Oxford DNB Brandram - founder with Frank Talfourd of the Oxford Dramatic Society - 'was remembered as the most distinguished Shakespearian reciter of the period influencing the productions of William Poel and through his popular recitations familiarized middle-class families with Shakespeare'. 2pp. 12mo. In fair condition with unobtrusive repair of closed tear with archival tape. He is 'dreadfully sorry to disappoint' him again but he is 'not up to the mark': 'I still have and I suppose always shall have to be kept in order by frequent visits to my doctor and on Friday I underwent a little operation - nothing to compare of course to what I have been through but enough to knock one up and make one feel very uncomfortable for a day or two.' Dark ox blood coloured full leather boards raised bands with embossed decorated compartments and title in gilt to the spine. Simple blind stamped foliage decoration to the front and rear boards. Corners rubbed more so to the top two corners o/w tight and clean. Gilt decorated inner dentelles. All edges gilt - showing some wear/rubbing. Internally the front endpapers are marked stained and have a former owner's name in the ffep. The second free endpaper has been glued to the first free endpaper for some reason in the past. The title page and the rest of the text block is clean and tight complete with the Gunpowder Treason section removed mid-century. Includes an Integral ribbon bookmark a bit 'rolled'. If Rickards has 'anything to say on the subject' Mozley asks him to 'send it at once to my brother at Oxford as he is in the last crisis of an article on the Manuscript Commission'.
