Biography and study of Hurrell Froude (1803-1836), an early leader of the Oxford Movement. xix,235 pages. Includes Index. Dedication on front free endpaper from the author to John Fowles and includes a letter from Piers Brendon to John Fowles whose bookplate is on the front pastedown. Slight fading to spine of dust jacket which also has small brown area, probably by heat on back cover. Light foxing and dust to top page edges and a little foxing on fore-edges.

Both the first (1847) and second (1848) editions of this work are practically unobtainable. This much-needed facsimile, given a very short print run, is now rare in its own right.
